I'd like to know what your biggest challenge in business is right now.

Is it:

making more profit
getting more customers
understanding finance
customer service
setting prices
marketing
finding a buyer for your business
thinking of selling

Or is it something completely different? The reason I ask this open ended question is that very business is unique and therefore has its own unique issues. Likely, out of the responses there will be a challenge that I would never come up with.

The goal of The Profit Process is to sell your business at its peak so that you can retire well and "live the dream" to the fullest in whatever way you understand "the dream." Everyone's dream is different.

I don't mean to come off salesy. That's not my aim here. I only want to give some context to my question and who I am so that you can see where I'm coming from and research my company more if you would like to.

What I really want to do is understand what is going on in business right now. And not just because of the current state of the economy. There are challenges in business which seem obvious to me, like the ones I stated above. But I know there are many more challenges out there that I am not aware of. And in order to become better at what I do, I want to know what business owners are feeling, what they are having success with, what they are struggling with, what they need help with, what they don't need help with.

So, that's what I'm wondering. I look forward to hearing from you on this topic and many others. Hoping to have a rich discussion about operating a business and being liberated from "having" to work.

The Profit Process

My biggest challenge is finding businesses that want to plan ahead. Most business owners have their heads down and are swimming as hard as they can. They don't look up and see the direction they are going or what's ahead of them. There can be a hugh water fall coming up or they can be in a rip current going out to sea and they don't know. They say they don't have the time or money and yet they waste it every day without planning.

My struggle is explaining that working hard is different than working smart. Businesses have to do both right now and, those who will survive, need to look up sometimes.

Can you tell me how to get that through their heads?
